Oct 27, 2013 377km/4,809km Amarillo TX – Elk City OK – Wichita Mountains OK

More mostly not so exciting driving, even though we branched off the interstate and then driving became more relaxing and the sights more interesting. Wild Bisons and prairie dogs in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge were the only wild living creatures we saw.

Other than that, it was many armadillos, skunks or coyotes dead at the roadside. Didn’t manage to eat a Texas Steak in Texas as we just swished though it and timing wasn’t right L. Did see some billboards advertising 72oz/2kg steaks, though… I usually eat a 6oz/170g one…

Got a chuckle out of a road sign pointing out the exit to North Pampa – ‘Pampa’ meaning ‘boonies’ in German. That was right to the point!
Yeah, North Pampa (boonies), that's right! ;-)
Stimmt genau, wir sind tief in der tiefsten Pampa! ;-)
