Rolf and I have never done an ATV tour, but the pink sand
dunes looked just so inviting that we decided we give it a shot. Did we have a
blast! Up and down we went following a guide and his 6 year old daughter. There
would have not been any other way to explore this area and we were so glad we
did it! I didn’t even freak out too much when we went down some steep sand
dunes. ;-)
Another highlight of this trip so far was the Bryce Canyon,
named after the early Mormon settler Ebenezer Bryce, who moved around with his
wife, Mary Ann, to help establish Mormon communities. Settling in Tropic in
1876, Bryce built a road into the ‘amphitheatre’ to harvest timber and locals
started to refer to it at “Bryce Canyon”. In 1928, their name was immortalized
with the establishment of the Bryce Canyon National Park. The “Amphitheatre”
was the most breathtaking.

Gosh was it cold up there, but the view!!! Originally we had
wanted to stay in the Park over night, but with these temperatures at that height,
we decided against it. Went to Kodachrome State Park instead, which was kind of
a let down after Bryce, but hey, got a good spot and a nice walk for Chester.
And it was much warmer.
